| 7 | 9 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 8 | 10 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter H, Chapter 418, Government Code, is |
|---|
| 9 | 11 | | amended by adding Section 418.1861 to read as follows: |
|---|
| 10 | 12 | | Sec. 418.1861. DISEASE PREVENTION INFORMATION SYSTEM. (a) |
|---|
| 11 | 13 | | The Department of State Health Services, using existing resources, |
|---|
| 12 | 14 | | shall develop and implement a disease prevention information system |
|---|
| 13 | 15 | | for dissemination of immunization information during a declared |
|---|
| 14 | 16 | | state of disaster or local state of disaster. |
|---|
| 15 | 17 | | (b) During a declared state of disaster or local state of |
|---|
| 16 | 18 | | disaster, the Department of State Health Services shall ensure that |
|---|
| 17 | 19 | | educational materials regarding immunizations are available to |
|---|
| 18 | 20 | | local health authorities in this state for distribution to: |
|---|
| 19 | 21 | | (1) public and private schools; |
|---|
| 20 | 22 | | (2) child-care facilities as defined by Section |
|---|
| 21 | 23 | | 42.002, Human Resources Code; |
|---|
| 22 | 24 | | (3) community centers offering youth services and |
|---|
| 23 | 25 | | programs; |
|---|
| 24 | 26 | | (4) community centers offering services and programs |
|---|
| 25 | 27 | | to vulnerable populations, including communities of color, |
|---|
| 26 | 28 | | low-income individuals, and elderly individuals; |
|---|
| 27 | 29 | | (5) local health care providers; and |
|---|
| 28 | 30 | | (6) veterans homes as defined by Section 164.002, |
|---|
| 29 | 31 | | Natural Resources Code. |
|---|
| 30 | 32 | | (c) The educational materials must include: |
|---|
| 31 | 33 | | (1) the most recent immunization schedules by age as |
|---|
| 32 | 34 | | recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention; and |
|---|
| 33 | 35 | | (2) locations, if any, of local health care providers |
|---|
| 34 | 36 | | that offer immunizations. |
|---|
| 35 | 37 | | SECTION 2. As soon as practicable, but not later than August |
|---|
| 36 | 38 | | 31, 2022, the Department of State Health Services shall implement |
|---|
| 37 | 39 | | the disease prevention information system as required by Section |
|---|
| 38 | 40 | | 418.1861, Government Code, as added by this Act. |
|---|
| 39 | 41 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
