| 7 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 8 | 10 | SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 662, Government Code, is | |
| 9 | 11 | amended by adding Section 662.083 to read as follows: | |
| 10 | 12 | Sec. 662.083. BUDDY CHECK DAY. (a) The 11th day of each | |
| 11 | 13 | month is Buddy Check Day to encourage veterans to contact other | |
| 12 | 14 | veterans, including those with whom they served, who may need | |
| 13 | 15 | assistance. | |
| 14 | 16 | (b) Buddy Check Day may be regularly observed by appropriate | |
| 15 | 17 | programs and activities coordinated by the Texas Veterans | |
| 16 | 18 | Commission to promote assistance and other services available to | |
| 17 | 19 | veterans and promote education and awareness of issues facing | |
| 18 | 20 | veterans. | |
| 19 | 21 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. | |
