5+ A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
46 AN ACT
57 relating to funding under the transportation allotment for
68 transporting meals and instructional materials to students during a
79 declared disaster.
810 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
911 SECTION 1. Section 48.151, Education Code, is amended by
1012 amending Subsection (h) and adding Subsection (n) to read as
1113 follows:
1214 (h) Funds allotted under this section must be used in
1315 providing transportation services. Transporting a meal or
1416 instructional materials as provided by Subsection (n) is included
1517 in transportation services under this subsection.
1618 (n) For the duration of a declared disaster, a school
1719 district located in an area that is wholly or partly the subject of
1820 a disaster declaration by the governor under Chapter 418,
19- Government Code, or by the president of the United States may be
21+ Government Code, or by the president of the United States shall be
2022 reimbursed on a per-mile basis for the cost of transporting a meal
2123 or instructional materials to a student's residence or to another
2224 location, designated by the district, for pick up by the student.
2325 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021.
