4	6		AN ACT
5	7		relating to funding under the transportation allotment for
6	8		transporting meals and instructional materials to students during a
7	9		declared disaster.
8	10		BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
9	11		SECTION 1. Section 48.151, Education Code, is amended by
10	12		amending Subsection (h) and adding Subsection (n) to read as
11	13		follows:
12	14		(h) Funds allotted under this section must be used in
13	15		providing transportation services. Transporting a meal or
14	16		instructional materials as provided by Subsection (n) is included
15	17		in transportation services under this subsection.
16	18		(n) For the duration of a declared disaster, a school
17	19		district located in an area that is wholly or partly the subject of
18	20		a disaster declaration by the governor under Chapter 418,
19		-	Government Code, or by the president of the United States ~~may~~ be
	21	+	Government Code, or by the president of the United States shall be
20	22		reimbursed on a per-mile basis for the cost of transporting a meal
21	23		or instructional materials to a student's residence or to another
22	24		location, designated by the district, for pick up by the student.
23	25		SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021.
