57 relating to the student union fee at the University of Houston.
68 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
79 SECTION 1. Section 54.526(a), Education Code, is amended to
810 read as follows:
911 (a) The board of regents of the University of Houston System
1012 may levy a student union fee, not to exceed $150 per student for
1113 each regular semester and not to exceed $75 per student for each
1214 term of the summer session. The sole purpose of the fee is
1315 financing, constructing, operating, maintaining, [and] improving,
1416 and providing programming at a Student Union Building for the
1517 University of Houston. The fees herein authorized to be levied are
1618 in addition to any use or service fee now or hereafter authorized to
1719 be levied.
1820 SECTION 2. Section 54.526(a), Education Code, as amended by
1921 this Act, applies to student fees imposed for a semester or term
2022 beginning before, on, or after the effective date of this Act.
2123 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2224 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2325 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2426 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2527 Act takes effect September 1, 2021.
