| 7 | 9 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 8 | 10 | | SECTION 1. Chapter 26, Education Code, is amended by adding |
|---|
| 9 | 11 | | Section 26.0125 to read as follows: |
|---|
| 10 | 12 | | Sec. 26.0125. PARENT CONTACT INFORMATION REQUIRED. The |
|---|
| 11 | 13 | | parent of a student enrolled in a school district shall provide in |
|---|
| 12 | 14 | | writing to the district: |
|---|
| 13 | 15 | | (1) on enrollment of the student in the district and |
|---|
| 14 | 16 | | not later than two weeks after the beginning of each school year, |
|---|
| 15 | 17 | | the parent's address, phone number, and e-mail address; and |
|---|
| 16 | 18 | | (2) if the parent's contact information changes during |
|---|
| 17 | 19 | | the school year, not later than two weeks after the date the |
|---|
| 18 | 20 | | information changes, the parent's updated information. |
|---|
| 19 | 21 | | SECTION 2. This Act applies beginning with the 2021-2022 |
|---|
| 20 | 22 | | school year. |
|---|
| 21 | 23 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 22 | 24 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 23 | 25 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 24 | 26 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 25 | 27 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
