57 relating to requiring the parent of a student enrolled in a school
68 district to provide and update a parent's contact information.
79 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
810 SECTION 1. Chapter 26, Education Code, is amended by adding
911 Section 26.0125 to read as follows:
1012 Sec. 26.0125. PARENT CONTACT INFORMATION REQUIRED. The
1113 parent of a student enrolled in a school district shall provide in
1214 writing to the district:
1315 (1) on enrollment of the student in the district and
1416 not later than two weeks after the beginning of each school year,
1517 the parent's address, phone number, and e-mail address; and
1618 (2) if the parent's contact information changes during
1719 the school year, not later than two weeks after the date the
1820 information changes, the parent's updated information.
1921 SECTION 2. This Act applies beginning with the 2021-2022
2022 school year.
2123 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2224 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2325 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2426 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2527 Act takes effect September 1, 2021.
