5+ A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
46 AN ACT
57 relating to eligibility for the exemption from ad valorem taxation
68 of the residence homestead of a totally disabled veteran.
79 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
810 SECTION 1. Section 11.131(b), Tax Code, is amended to read
911 as follows:
1012 (b) A disabled veteran who has been awarded by [receives
1113 from] the United States Department of Veterans Affairs or its
1214 successor 100 percent disability compensation due to a
1315 service-connected disability and a rating of 100 percent disabled
1416 or of individual unemployability is entitled to an exemption from
1517 taxation of the total appraised value of the veteran's residence
1618 homestead.
1719 SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only
1820 to an ad valorem tax year that begins on or after the effective date
1921 of this Act.
2022 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect January 1, 2022.
