| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | commemorates the life of Rene Garza Sr., who died |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | November 25, 2020, at the age of 81; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Rene Garza was an exemplary citizen who was widely |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | admired for his achievements in golf and for his many |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | contributions to the Harlingen community; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Born on March 12, 1939, he served the nation with |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | distinction as a member of the United States Air Force; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Garza was blessed with a wonderful family; |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | his beloved wife, Nora Christina Garza, was a source of strength |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | for him throughout their marriage; his children, Rene Garza Jr., |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Steven Gregory Garza, and Sandra Reininger, and his two |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | grandchildren, Nicholle and Charles, were a source of much pride |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | and joy for him; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Rene began his career in golf at the Wyoming Golf |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Club in Cincinnati, Ohio, and he was considered one of the |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | premier golf professionals in the region; he won numerous local |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | tournaments, and he also played in several PGA Tour events; a |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | lifetime member of the PGA of America, he concluded his career as |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | the golf professional at the Tony Butler Golf Course in |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Harlingen; and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, He was a devoted husband, father, and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | grandfather, and he leaves behind memories that will be treasured |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | forever by his family and many friends; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | family of Rene Garza Sr.; and, be it further |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |

| 34 | 34 | | Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
