                            SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 152
 In Memory
 of
 Tonya McCoy
 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
 citizens of Dallas in mourning the loss of Tonya McCoy, an
 esteemed member of the community who recently passed away after a
 life of generous civic service; and
 WHEREAS, Tonya McCoy was an inspiration to all who knew her
 through her wisdom, her kindness, and her dedication to the
 principles of equality and social justice; and
 WHEREAS, Tonya was an active volunteer for the Democratic
 Party, and she faithfully supported the party through her
 extensive service at the local, state, and national levels; and
 WHEREAS, She assisted in numerous elections as a
 campaigner and an election clerk, and she gave generously of her
 time to charitable fund-raisers and to such events as the Dallas
 Democratic Labor Day Picnic; she served as a canvassing field
 leader during President Barack Obama's 2008 presidential
 campaign, and in 2008, 2012, and 2016, she was a delegate to both
 the 23rd Senatorial District Convention and the Texas Democratic
 Convention; and
 WHEREAS, Tonya McCoy advocated positive change for Texas
 communities through her spirit of service and her active support
 of Democratic Party leaders; she was a loyal friend to many, and
 she leaves behind memories that will long be cherished by those
 who were privileged to share in her life; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th
 Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
 family of Tonya McCoy; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
 Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
 memory of Tonya McCoy.
