| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize the Alpha Kappa Sigma Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho |

| 4 | 4 | | Sorority, Incorporated, on the occasion of its 75th anniversary, |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | which was celebrated with a virtual banquet on February 27, 2021; |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | and |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | WHEREAS, Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority is a national collegiate |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | sorority that was incorporated in 1922; through the years, it has |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | served as a home for thousands of collegiate and professional |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | women looking for a place to share inspiring life experiences, |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | learn new things, and uplift the community through sisterhood, |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | scholarship, and service; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, The Alpha Kappa Sigma Chapter was established on |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | February 2, 1946; since its founding, the chapter has initiated |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | and sustained a wide range of community service efforts for the |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Austin area; the chapter's initiatives include hosting a |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | biennial debutante ball, numerous voter registration drives, and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | events in recognition of local educators; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Through the years, the chapter has given special |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | attention to issues affecting young people and education, and its |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | members have organized school supply and shoe drives to benefit |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | area children; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, For 75 years, the Alpha Kappa Sigma Chapter has |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | had a positive impact on the fabric of life in Austin, and it is |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | truly fitting that the chapter receive special recognition as it |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | reaches this milestone in its history; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Legislature, hereby commend the Alpha Kappa Sigma Chapter of |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Incorporated, on 75 years of |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | exceptional service to the Austin community and extend to its |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | members best wishes for continued success; and, be it further |

| 32 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
