| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | commemorates the life of Specialist Miguel Villalon, an esteemed |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | young serviceman, who died January 11, 2020, at the age of 21; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Miguel Villalon was born on December 31, 1998, to |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Jesus and Olivia Villalon; he was the brother of the late Jesus |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Villalon Jr. and of Arnoldo and Antonio Fernandez; he was a man of |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | courage and generosity, and he served with distinction as a |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | member of the United States Army; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Miguel joined the army in 2018, and he completed |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | basic combat training and advanced individual training at Fort |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Leonard Wood in Missouri; he then was stationed at Fort Bragg, |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | where he faithfully served as a combat engineer; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, During his two years of service, Specialist |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Villalon was deployed to Afghanistan, and he distinguished |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | himself for bravery in the line of duty; his decorations include |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | a Purple Heart, a Bronze Star Medal, an Army Commendation Medal, |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | an Army Achievement Medal, and a Combat Action Badge; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Specialist Miguel Villalon embodied the highest |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | standards of courage, sacrifice, and devotion to duty; he was a |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | treasured member of his community, and he will long be remembered |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | with profound respect and admiration by all who were privileged |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | to share in his life; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | family of Miguel Villalon; and, be it further |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |

| 32 | 32 | | Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
