SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 195 In Memory of Miguel Villalon WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and commemorates the life of Specialist Miguel Villalon, an esteemed young serviceman, who died January 11, 2020, at the age of 21; and WHEREAS, Miguel Villalon was born on December 31, 1998, to Jesus and Olivia Villalon; he was the brother of the late Jesus Villalon Jr. and of Arnoldo and Antonio Fernandez; he was a man of courage and generosity, and he served with distinction as a member of the United States Army; and WHEREAS, Miguel joined the army in 2018, and he completed basic combat training and advanced individual training at Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri; he then was stationed at Fort Bragg, where he faithfully served as a combat engineer; and WHEREAS, During his two years of service, Specialist Villalon was deployed to Afghanistan, and he distinguished himself for bravery in the line of duty; his decorations include a Purple Heart, a Bronze Star Medal, an Army Commendation Medal, an Army Achievement Medal, and a Combat Action Badge; and WHEREAS, Specialist Miguel Villalon embodied the highest standards of courage, sacrifice, and devotion to duty; he was a treasured member of his community, and he will long be remembered with profound respect and admiration by all who were privileged to share in his life; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved family of Miguel Villalon; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Miguel Villalon.
