| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The 100th birthday of an esteemed Texan is truly |

| 3 | 3 | | cause for celebration, and Edith Geske of Chandler marked this |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | momentous occasion in her life on November 20, 2020; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Born in Dallas in 1920, Edith Geske grew up in |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | Hurst; she graduated from Riverside High School and went on to |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | attend beauty school; later, she earned a college degree in |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | Christian education; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Mrs. Geske married her sweetheart, Eddie, and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | they shared more than five decades together until his passing in |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | 1997; over the years, she has had the pleasure of seeing her |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | family grow to include three children, five grandchildren, eight |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, A woman of deep faith, Mrs. Geske supported her |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | husband in his work as a Baptist pastor who specialized in |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | establishing and revitalizing churches throughout the U.S.; in |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | addition to her ministry involvement, she found employment in |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | local offices and as a teacher; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Mrs. Geske has been a valued resident of Chandler |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | for more than three decades; active in her community, she gave |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | generously of her time and talents to the Tyler Police Department |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | as a volunteer for over 10 years; at the age of 85, she |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | participated in the department's Citizens Police Academy, and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | she was nicknamed "Annie Oakley" for her impressive performance |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | at the gun range; moreover, the police chief honored her with a |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | "Top Gun" award; and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, Edith Geske has witnessed a panorama of change |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | over the course of a century, and she has met life's challenges |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | and opportunities with dignity and grace, earning the deep |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | admiration of all who are privileged to know her; now, therefore, |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | be it |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | Legislature, hereby congratulate Edith Geske on the joyous |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | occasion of her 100th birthday and extend to her sincere best |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be |

| 37 | 37 | | prepared for Mrs. Geske as an expression of high regard from the |
