                            SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 23
 WHEREAS, The 100th birthday of an esteemed Texan is truly
 cause for celebration, and Edith Geske of Chandler marked this
 momentous occasion in her life on November 20, 2020; and
 WHEREAS, Born in Dallas in 1920, Edith Geske grew up in
 Hurst; she graduated from Riverside High School and went on to
 attend beauty school; later, she earned a college degree in
 Christian education; and
 WHEREAS, Mrs. Geske married her sweetheart, Eddie, and
 they shared more than five decades together until his passing in
 1997; over the years, she has had the pleasure of seeing her
 family grow to include three children, five grandchildren, eight
 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; and
 WHEREAS, A woman of deep faith, Mrs. Geske supported her
 husband in his work as a Baptist pastor who specialized in
 establishing and revitalizing churches throughout the U.S.; in
 addition to her ministry involvement, she found employment in
 local offices and as a teacher; and
 WHEREAS, Mrs. Geske has been a valued resident of Chandler
 for more than three decades; active in her community, she gave
 generously of her time and talents to the Tyler Police Department
 as a volunteer for over 10 years; at the age of 85, she
 participated in the department's Citizens Police Academy, and
 she was nicknamed "Annie Oakley" for her impressive performance
 at the gun range; moreover, the police chief honored her with a
 "Top Gun" award; and
 WHEREAS, Edith Geske has witnessed a panorama of change
 over the course of a century, and she has met life's challenges
 and opportunities with dignity and grace, earning the deep
 admiration of all who are privileged to know her; now, therefore,
 be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th
 Legislature, hereby congratulate Edith Geske on the joyous
 occasion of her 100th birthday and extend to her sincere best
 wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
 prepared for Mrs. Geske as an expression of high regard from the
 Texas Senate.
