| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Chief Ron Moellenberg of the Pflugerville Fire |

| 4 | 4 | | Department, who has been named the recipient of the 2021 Texas |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | Fire Chiefs Association Lone Star Achievement Award; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Chief Moellenberg received this prestigious award |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | in honor of more than four decades of outstanding work advancing |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | the emergency medical and fire services in Travis County; a |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | United States Army veteran, he has also served as an immunization |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | specialist with the state health department and as a member of |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | the Pflugerville City Council; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Ron joined the Pflugerville Volunteer Fire |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Department in 1978; he became its first full-time chief in 1986, |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | and he was instrumental in transitioning the department from a |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | volunteer organization into a fully paid, professional fire |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | department; under his leadership, the Pflugerville Fire |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Department, also known as Travis County Emergency Services |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | District Number 2, received a Class 1 rank from an |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | insurance-rating company; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Chief Moellenberg led the efforts that created a |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | fire-department-based emergency medical services program to |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | improve transport in the county; due to his expertise and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | leadership, the Pflugerville Fire Department has also become a |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | valuable resource for the Texas State Association of Fire and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Emergency Districts; and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, An exemplary public servant, Chief Moellenberg |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | has had a significant impact on the delivery of emergency |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | services in Travis County, and it is truly fitting that he |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | receive special recognition; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | Legislature, hereby commend Chief Ron Moellenberg on his many |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | years of outstanding service to the people of Pflugerville and |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | extend congratulations to him for receiving the 2021 Texas Fire |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | Chiefs Association Lone Star Achievement Award; and, be it |
