SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 313
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Chief Ron Moellenberg of the Pflugerville Fire
Department, who has been named the recipient of the 2021 Texas
Fire Chiefs Association Lone Star Achievement Award; and
WHEREAS, Chief Moellenberg received this prestigious award
in honor of more than four decades of outstanding work advancing
the emergency medical and fire services in Travis County; a
United States Army veteran, he has also served as an immunization
specialist with the state health department and as a member of
the Pflugerville City Council; and
WHEREAS, Ron joined the Pflugerville Volunteer Fire
Department in 1978; he became its first full-time chief in 1986,
and he was instrumental in transitioning the department from a
volunteer organization into a fully paid, professional fire
department; under his leadership, the Pflugerville Fire
Department, also known as Travis County Emergency Services
District Number 2, received a Class 1 rank from an
insurance-rating company; and
WHEREAS, Chief Moellenberg led the efforts that created a
fire-department-based emergency medical services program to
improve transport in the county; due to his expertise and
leadership, the Pflugerville Fire Department has also become a
valuable resource for the Texas State Association of Fire and
Emergency Districts; and
WHEREAS, An exemplary public servant, Chief Moellenberg
has had a significant impact on the delivery of emergency
services in Travis County, and it is truly fitting that he
receive special recognition; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th
Legislature, hereby commend Chief Ron Moellenberg on his many
years of outstanding service to the people of Pflugerville and
extend congratulations to him for receiving the 2021 Texas Fire
Chiefs Association Lone Star Achievement Award; and, be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
