| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Susie Houston for her outstanding service during her |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | tenure as mayor of Laguna Vista; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Susie Houston was elected mayor of Laguna Vista in |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | 2009, and she served with distinction until late in 2020; a |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | graduate of the Leadership Laguna Madre program, she grew up in a |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | civic-minded family and learned early in life the importance of |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | public service; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Susie has also served for many years as an |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | educator; she taught for a time at Derry Elementary School and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | then joined the faculty at Laguna Madre Christian Academy; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Throughout her tenure as mayor, she was known for |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | her diligence, her readiness to take care of city business |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | outside of council meetings, and her eagerness to meet with her |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | constituents; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, An exemplary public servant, she is respected and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | admired by her former colleagues in city politics and by area |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | citizens, and it is truly fitting that she receive special |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | recognition; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Legislature, hereby commend Susie Houston on her exceptional |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | service to the Laguna Vista community and extend to her best |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | wishes for continued success in all her endeavors; and, be it |
