SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 320
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Susie Houston for her outstanding service during her
tenure as mayor of Laguna Vista; and
WHEREAS, Susie Houston was elected mayor of Laguna Vista in
2009, and she served with distinction until late in 2020; a
graduate of the Leadership Laguna Madre program, she grew up in a
civic-minded family and learned early in life the importance of
public service; and
WHEREAS, Susie has also served for many years as an
educator; she taught for a time at Derry Elementary School and
then joined the faculty at Laguna Madre Christian Academy; and
WHEREAS, Throughout her tenure as mayor, she was known for
her diligence, her readiness to take care of city business
outside of council meetings, and her eagerness to meet with her
constituents; and
WHEREAS, An exemplary public servant, she is respected and
admired by her former colleagues in city politics and by area
citizens, and it is truly fitting that she receive special
recognition; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th
Legislature, hereby commend Susie Houston on her exceptional
service to the Laguna Vista community and extend to her best
wishes for continued success in all her endeavors; and, be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
