| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, Through their swift actions, four Wichita Falls |

| 3 | 3 | | High School football coaches played instrumental roles in |

| 4 | 4 | | helping to save the life of a student on September 7, 2020; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, On that day, Wichita Falls coaches Joshua Burris, |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | Garrett Evans, Grant Freeman, and Ryan Quezada were overseeing a |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | weight-lifting session for the football team when one of its |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | members collapsed; using their American Red Cross training, the |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | men immediately placed a call to 9-1-1, began conducting |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | assessments, and performed chest compressions on the youth, who |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | was lying unresponsive on the floor; the young man responded to |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | the treatment and was placed in one of the Red Cross's |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | recommended recovery positions for the emergency medical |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | services personnel who arrived shortly thereafter; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, In recognition of their efforts, Coaches Burris, |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Evans, Freeman, and Quezada were presented with American Red |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Cross Lifesaving Awards for Professional Responders; the |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | accolade honors those individuals who have helped to save or |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | sustain a life by applying the training they have acquired in Red |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Cross courses; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, By acting with skill and composure when every |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | second counted, these dedicated Texans helped to prevent a crisis |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | situation from becoming a tragedy, and their efforts indeed merit |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | special recognition; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Legislature, hereby commend Wichita Falls High School football |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | coaches Joshua Burris, Garrett Evans, Grant Freeman, and Ryan |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Quezada for their actions in helping to save the life of a student |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | and extend to these men sincere best wishes for the future; and, |
