| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The dedicated officers of the City of San Antonio |

| 3 | 3 | | Telecommunications Unit have greatly contributed to the safety |

| 4 | 4 | | and well-being of area residents; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The second-largest division of the San Antonio |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | Police Department, the Telecommunications Unit includes more |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | than 300 authorized staff members that connect civilians to |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | police services; on average, its telecommunication officers |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | respond to nearly one million calls and thousands of text |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | messages to 911, and since 2011, the unit has been located at the |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Public Safety Answering Point in Brooks City Base; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, In times of crisis, the Telecommunications Unit |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | has worked tirelessly to provide continuous, quality services to |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | the people of San Antonio; during Winter Storm Uri, |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | telecommunications officers handled triple the call volume, and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | these outstanding individuals have maintained necessary |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | operations throughout the COVID-19 pandemic; moreover, they |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | often work long shifts or sleep at the office to ensure public |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | access to first responders during major events; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, The Telecommunications Unit of the San Antonio |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Police Department has demonstrated a lasting commitment to |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | serving local citizens, and its officers and staff may take |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | justifiable pride in their important work; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Legislature, hereby commend the City of San Antonio |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Telecommunications Unit for its outstanding service and extend |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | to all those associated with the unit deep appreciation for their |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | dedicated efforts; and, be it further |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | prepared for the City of San Antonio Telecommunications Unit as |
|---|
