| 3 | 3 | | recognize Genaro Tijerina for his outstanding work as a |

|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, A respected bilingual news journalist, television |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | anchor, writer, and storyteller, Genaro Tijerina has shaped a |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | rewarding career presenting stories that educate, inform, and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | intrigue the public; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Genaro earned a bachelor's degree in business |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | technology and management from South Texas College and earned a |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | master's degree in mass communications and media studies from The |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | University of Texas Rio Grande Valley; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, He began a career in television as a production |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | assistant with NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises, and he rose |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | through the ranks to later serve as a multimedia journalist at |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | the company; he also distinguished himself as a journalist, |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | reporter, and news anchor with Univision Communications before |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | transitioning to his current position as vice president of public |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | relations and media communications at Dr. Zelaya Educational |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Consulting, Limited Liability Corporation; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, An esteemed news journalist, Mr. Tijerina has |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | earned numerous distinctions for professional excellence; he was |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | honored with a GEM Award in 2017 by NBCUniversal, and he was named |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | a Top Journalist of the Year in 2019 by the International |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Association of Top Professionals; he represents the highest |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | ideals of journalism, and he can reflect with pride on his |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | exemplary career; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Legislature, hereby commend Genaro Tijerina on his many |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | achievements as a news reporter and extend to him best wishes for |

| 31 | 31 | | continued success in all his endeavors; and, be it further |
