SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 351
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Genaro Tijerina for his outstanding work as a
television reporter; and
WHEREAS, A respected bilingual news journalist, television
anchor, writer, and storyteller, Genaro Tijerina has shaped a
rewarding career presenting stories that educate, inform, and
intrigue the public; and
WHEREAS, Genaro earned a bachelor's degree in business
technology and management from South Texas College and earned a
master's degree in mass communications and media studies from The
University of Texas Rio Grande Valley; and
WHEREAS, He began a career in television as a production
assistant with NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises, and he rose
through the ranks to later serve as a multimedia journalist at
the company; he also distinguished himself as a journalist,
reporter, and news anchor with Univision Communications before
transitioning to his current position as vice president of public
relations and media communications at Dr. Zelaya Educational
Consulting, Limited Liability Corporation; and
WHEREAS, An esteemed news journalist, Mr. Tijerina has
earned numerous distinctions for professional excellence; he was
honored with a GEM Award in 2017 by NBCUniversal, and he was named
a Top Journalist of the Year in 2019 by the International
Association of Top Professionals; he represents the highest
ideals of journalism, and he can reflect with pride on his
exemplary career; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th
Legislature, hereby commend Genaro Tijerina on his many
achievements as a news reporter and extend to him best wishes for
continued success in all his endeavors; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
