                            SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 392
 In Memory
 of
 Hilary Brumley Doran Jr.
 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
 commemorates the life of Hilary Brumley Doran Jr., who died
 December 21, 2019, at the age of 83; and
 WHEREAS, Hilary Doran was born on August 16, 1936, in Del
 Rio; he grew up in Del Rio and on his family's ranch in Edwards
 County, and he graduated from Del Rio High School in 1954; he
 earned a degree from Southwest Texas State University and served
 with distinction in the United States Air Force; after his
 military service, he graduated from The University of Texas
 School of Law and returned to Del Rio, where he was a founding
 partner of the law firm of Doran, Gulley, and Etzel; and
 WHEREAS, He was elected to represent Del Rio and Val Verde
 County in the Texas House of Representatives, where he served
 from 1967 to 1975 and was a member of numerous committees,
 including the House Appropriations Committee; and
 WHEREAS, He served as an executive assistant from 1981 to
 1983 for Governor Bill Clements, who appointed him to the board
 of regents of The University of Texas at Austin; when Governor
 Clements returned as governor in 1987, Mr. Doran was named chief
 of staff, an office he held for a year; the governor then
 appointed him chairman of the Texas Racing Commission, a position
 in which he served until 1991; and
 WHEREAS, Hilary was blessed with a wonderful family; his
 wife, Julia Doran; his sons, H. B. Doran III, David Doran, and
 Gregory Doran; his stepdaughter, Kathy Keller; and his grandson,
 Ryan Doran, were a source of much pride and joy for him; and
 WHEREAS, A man of courage, generosity, and integrity, he
 was a dedicated public servant, and he leaves behind memories
 that will be cherished forever by his family and many friends;
 now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th
 Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the family of
 Hilary Brumley Doran Jr.; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
 Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
 memory of Hilary Doran.
