5	5	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
6	6	commemorates the life of Dr. Robert Otto Dittmar II, who died
7	7	August 8, 2020, at the age of 64; and
8	8	WHEREAS, Bob Dittmar was born on October 18, 1955, in
9	9	Fredericksburg; a fifth-generation Texas rancher, he learned the
10	10	value of hard work and the importance of land preservation at a
11	11	young age; he followed in his father's footsteps and attended
12	12	Texas A&M University, where he earned a degree in veterinary
13	13	medicine and was a member of the Aggies' national championship
14	14	wool-judging team; and
15	15	WHEREAS, He married Bernadine, his beloved wife of 41
16	16	years, on August 18, 1979, and the couple was blessed with two
17	17	children, Robert Otto Dittmar III and Whitney Hild; his
18	18	grandchildren, Hayden, Paige, Kimber, and Levi, were a source of
19	19	much pride and joy for him; and
20	20	WHEREAS, He worked for a time in Weslaco and Hondo before
21	21	moving his veterinary practice to Kerrville so that he could also
22	22	work on his family's ranch; he became known for building close
23	23	relationships with his clients and for his willingness to serve
24	24	them at a moment's notice; and
25	25	WHEREAS, In 2014, he was named the first state wildlife
26	26	veterinarian for the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, which
27	27	allowed him to follow his passion for natural resource
28	28	conservation; he was particularly drawn to Texas bighorn sheep
29	29	and pronghorn antelope relocation efforts; and
30	30	WHEREAS, He held leadership positions in a wide range of
31	31	professional and community organizations, including the Doss and
32	32	Harper Wildlife Management Associations, the Texas Farm Bureau,
33	33	the Texas Wildlife Association, the Buckskin Brigades, and the
34	34	Learning Across New Dimensions in Science program; he was an
35	35	active member of Zion Lutheran Church; and
36	36	WHEREAS, A man of courage, generosity, and wisdom, he gave
37	37	unselfishly to others, and his passion for his work and his
38	38	enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest will not be
39	39	forgotten by those who were privileged to share in his life; and
40	40	WHEREAS, He was a devoted husband, father, and
41	41	grandfather, and he leaves behind memories that will be treasured
42	42	forever by his family and many friends; now, therefore, be it
43	43	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th
44	44	Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
45	45	family of Dr. Robert Otto Dittmar II; and, be it further
46	46	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
47	47	his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
48	48	Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
49	49	memory of Dr. Robert Otto Dittmar II.
