5	5	WHEREAS, Memories of a life filled with joyful times and
6	6	meaningful accomplishments remain to comfort the family and
7	7	friends of Mike Baughman of Henderson, who passed away on
8	8	November 23, 2020, at the age of 70; and
9	9	WHEREAS, A native of Henderson, Mike Baughman was born on
10	10	July 13, 1950, to A. E. and Jane Watson Baughman, and he grew up
11	11	with the companionship of two siblings, Jimmy and Patricia; he
12	12	graduated from Henderson High School in 1968, and he went on to
13	13	attend Kilgore College and The University of Texas at Austin,
14	14	before earning his bachelor's degree from Stephen F. Austin State
15	15	University; along the way, he served his country as a member of
16	16	the United States Air Force Reserve; and
17	17	WHEREAS, After graduating from the Dallas Institute of
18	18	Funeral Service, Mr. Baughman began his career with Bryan
19	19	Funeral Home; he went on to run his own business, Baughman
20	20	Monument Company, in addition to working for the Rader Funeral
21	21	Home in Henderson and Hawthorn Funeral Home in Carthage; and
22	22	WHEREAS, Mr. Baughman married the love of his life, the
23	23	former Beverly June Waller, on June 27, 1998; the couple enjoyed
24	24	raising Jack Russell terriers, and together, they were active
25	25	members of Calvary Baptist Church, where Mr. Baughman sang in the
26	26	choir and served as a youth director alongside his wife; he was
27	27	also a pilot who had flown from the Rusk County Airport since
28	28	1980; and
29	29	WHEREAS, Passionate about high school football,
30	30	Mr. Baughman was the well-known "voice of the Lions" for his alma
31	31	mater for more than four decades; he served as the play-by-play
32	32	broadcaster for Lions games and even called the state
33	33	championship match from Cowboys Stadium in 2010; over the years,
34	34	he developed an extensive knowledge of Henderson High School
35	35	football statistics; and
36	36	WHEREAS, Although Mike Baughman is deeply missed by all
37	37	those who cherished him, they will forever remember his profound
38	38	commitment to his family, his faith, and his community; now,
39	39	therefore, be it
40	40	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th
41	41	Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the life of Mike Baughman and
42	42	extend heartfelt sympathy to the members of his family: to his
43	43	wife, Beverly Waller Baughman; to his brother, Jimmy Baughman,
44	44	and sister, Patricia Spraker; to his nieces and nephews; and to
45	45	his other relatives and many friends; and, be it further
46	46	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
47	47	prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns
48	48	this day, it do so in memory of Mike Baughman.
