SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 443 WHEREAS, Detective Gregg Roberts retired from the Tyler Police Department on April 30, 2021, drawing to a close an exemplary tenure that spanned more than three decades; and WHEREAS, Mr. Roberts began his law enforcement career with the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office before joining the Tyler Police Department in 1988; he has served the agency in a variety of roles, including as a patrol officer, Crime Stoppers officer, and SWAT Team member; since becoming a detective, he has investigated cases involving property crimes as well as crimes against persons, and at the time of his retirement, he was assigned to the U.S. Marshals Service Joint East Texas Fugitive Task Force; and WHEREAS, Over the years, Detective Roberts has garnered numerous accolades in recognition of his dedicated service, including two Meritorious Conduct Awards, a Police Commendation, two Life Saving Awards, three Certificates of Merit, and a Certificate of Civic Achievement; and WHEREAS, Through his skill, professionalism, and deep commitment to public safety, Gregg Roberts has earned the lasting respect and admiration of his colleagues and fellow citizens alike, and he may indeed reflect with pride on his contributions; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th Legislature, hereby congratulate Detective Gregg Roberts on his retirement from the Tyler Police Department and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be prepared for Detective Roberts as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
