SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 494
In Memory
of
Maria Isabel Hernandez
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
commemorates the life of Maria Isabel Hernandez, who died May 10,
2021, at the age of 82; and
WHEREAS, Maria Isabel Hernandez was born on November 20,
1938, to Angelita and Jose Flores; she lived her entire life in
her hometown of Brownsville and was a 1958 graduate of
Brownsville High School; and
WHEREAS, She married the love of her life, Humberto
Hernandez, in 1966, and they enjoyed more than five decades of
marriage together; they were blessed with eight children, and
their 18 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren were a source
of much pride and joy for her; and
WHEREAS, A devout Catholic who practiced her faith in her
daily life, she was a longtime member of Our Lady of Guadalupe
Catholic Church; she loved spending time outdoors and was an avid
gardener and birdwatcher; and
WHEREAS, A woman of warmth, wisdom, and grace, she saw the
good in everyone she met, and she will long be remembered for her
generosity and loving spirit; and
WHEREAS, She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother,
and she leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by
her family and many friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th
Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
family of Maria Isabel Hernandez; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
memory of Maria Isabel Hernandez.
