| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Brooke Walterscheid for her outstanding service as the |

| 4 | 4 | | 2020-2021 student regent for the Texas Tech University System |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | Board of Regents; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Brooke Walterscheid is a fourth-year medical |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | student at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | School of Medicine; she graduated magna cum laude from the Texas |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Tech University Honors College and earned a master's degree in |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | business administration with a concentration in STEM from the |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | university's graduate school; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, She has brought a wealth of leadership experience |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | to her position on the board of regents; as an undergraduate, she |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | was an Honors College ambassador and a founding member of the |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Women's Leadership Institute; she served as the health sciences |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | center's Student Government Association 2018-2019 president and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | was an advocate for mental health and telemedicine funding during |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | the state's legislative session; she has also worked as a |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | volunteer at the center's Free Clinic; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Over the course of her academic career, she has |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | received numerous honors and awards and has collaborated on |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | multiple research initiatives and publication submissions; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, She has excelled in her role as a student regent |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | and provides an effective and influential voice for the more than |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | 55,000 students throughout the Texas Tech University System; it |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | is truly fitting that she receive recognition for her leadership |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | and her dedication to serving her fellow students; now, |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | therefore, be it |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Legislature, hereby commend Brooke Walterscheid on her |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | exceptional achievements and valuable service as the student |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | regent for the Texas Tech University System Board of Regents; |
|---|
