SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 51 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Brooke Walterscheid for her outstanding service as the 2020-2021 student regent for the Texas Tech University System Board of Regents; and WHEREAS, Brooke Walterscheid is a fourth-year medical student at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine; she graduated magna cum laude from the Texas Tech University Honors College and earned a master's degree in business administration with a concentration in STEM from the university's graduate school; and WHEREAS, She has brought a wealth of leadership experience to her position on the board of regents; as an undergraduate, she was an Honors College ambassador and a founding member of the Women's Leadership Institute; she served as the health sciences center's Student Government Association 2018-2019 president and was an advocate for mental health and telemedicine funding during the state's legislative session; she has also worked as a volunteer at the center's Free Clinic; and WHEREAS, Over the course of her academic career, she has received numerous honors and awards and has collaborated on multiple research initiatives and publication submissions; and WHEREAS, She has excelled in her role as a student regent and provides an effective and influential voice for the more than 55,000 students throughout the Texas Tech University System; it is truly fitting that she receive recognition for her leadership and her dedication to serving her fellow students; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th Legislature, hereby commend Brooke Walterscheid on her exceptional achievements and valuable service as the student regent for the Texas Tech University System Board of Regents; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
