                            SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 534
 WHEREAS, White's Funeral Homes in Parker County was
 approved for an Official Texas Historical Marker on June 15,
 2020; and
 WHEREAS, In 1908, Wayman Asbury White began selling
 coffins for Captain J. A. Kidd's general mercantile store in
 Springtown, and after moving to Poolville in 1913, he continued
 to specialize in selling coffins for another store; in 1914, he
 moved to Weatherford and established an undertaking business,
 and he was among the first in the area to adopt progressive new
 practices; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. White built a funeral home on Houston Avenue
 in Weatherford in 1930, and other members of his family joined in
 the business, including his brother, J. Herschel White, his son,
 Ford White, and his son-in-law, Morris Sands; a decade later, the
 funeral home became one of the first to sell burial insurance
 policies, and in the 1950s, it was among the first to offer an
 air-conditioned chapel; and
 WHEREAS, In the years since, White's Funeral Homes has
 expanded to several more locations, and in 1980, it purchased the
 Memory Gardens of Valley Memorial Park along Mineral Wells
 Highway; today, the business remains in the White family, owned
 and operated by the grandson of W. A. White, Bob White, and his
 wife, Carolynn White, with the assistance of their daughter,
 Anita White, and their grandson, Zack Bellenger; in 2015, the
 business was accepted into the Texas Treasure Business Award
 Program, which recognizes businesses that have contributed to
 their community for more than 50 years; and
 WHEREAS, For over a century, the White family and their
 funeral homes have played a vital role in Parker County and the
 surrounding region, and recognition from the Texas Historical
 Commission pays well-deserved tribute to the business's long
 record of service; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th
 Legislature, hereby congratulate White's Funeral Homes on being
 approved for an Official Texas Historical Marker and extend to
 the White family and their employees sincere best wishes for the
 future; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
 prepared for White's Funeral Homes as an expression of high
 regard from the Texas Senate.
