55 WHEREAS, The family and friends of Winston Robinson of
66 Marshall suffered an immeasurable loss with his death on October
77 13, 2020, at the age of 68; and
88 WHEREAS, Born on December 28, 1951, in Florida, Winston
99 Robinson was the son of Johnnie and Mable Byrd Robinson and the
1010 oldest of their three children; he graduated from Northside High
1111 School before earning a bachelor's degree in chemistry from
1212 Ramapo College of New Jersey in 1982; and
1313 WHEREAS, Mr. Robinson started his career at Warner-Lambert
1414 Pharmaceuticals, followed by leadership roles at Apollo
1515 Technologies, NATEC, and ACF Industries; he served as the
1616 director of planning and community development for the City of
1717 Marshall from 2001 to 2010, and in 2011, he began working at Wiley
1818 College, where he was director of auxiliary services until 2018,
1919 when he was appointed as the director of athletics; and
2020 WHEREAS, A man of deep faith, Mr. Robinson was a member of
2121 Bethesda Missionary Baptist Church for over three decades; he
2222 held several leadership positions with the church, including
2323 deacon, secretary of the board of deacons, trustee, and budget
2424 manager, and he also sang in the male chorus; in addition, he was
2525 a member of Omega Psi Phi, and he generously supported United Way
2626 and the Boys and Girls Clubs; and
2727 WHEREAS, In 2002, Mr. Robinson married the love of his
2828 life, Cozzetta, and he took great pride in their blended family,
2929 which grew to include their three children, Leslie, Jewana, and
3030 Jason, and three grandchildren, Louis, Montana, and Aidyn; and
3131 WHEREAS, Although Winston Robinson is deeply missed, his
3232 loved ones may find comfort in remembering the humility,
3333 kindness, and selflessness with which he lived his life; now,
3434 therefore, be it
3535 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th
3636 Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the life of Winston Robinson
3737 and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his
3838 wife, Cozzetta; to his children, Leslie Robinson Frye, Jewana
3939 Warren, and Jason Warren; to his brothers, Kenneth Robinson and
4040 Alan Robinson and his wife, Sharon; to his grandchildren, Louis
4141 Cannon Frye, Montana Warren, and Aidyn Page Warren; and to his
4242 other relatives and friends; and, be it further
4343 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
4444 prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns
4545 this day, it do so in memory of Winston Robinson.
