| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, Dale Lunsford, president of LeTourneau University |

| 3 | 3 | | in Longview, has been appointed to a new role as chancellor of the |

| 4 | 4 | | institution; and |

| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Named president in 2007, Dr. Lunsford has |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | overseen the launch of a number of academic programs, among them |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | nursing, civil engineering, and cybersecurity at the |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | undergraduate level and engineering, psychology, and counseling |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | at the graduate level; in addition, he has brought many |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | improvements to the LeTourneau campus; in 2009, the Paul & Betty |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Abbott Aviation Center and Corner Café student dining hall |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | opened; the Kielhorn Materials Joining Laboratory has been |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | expanded, and new facilities include South Hall, a 200-bed |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | residence, as well as the Allen Family Student Center and Joyce |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Family Athletic Village; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Lunsford has served on the boards of the |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Independent Colleges and Universities of Texas and the National |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Association of Independent Colleges and Universities; benefiting |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | the wider community, he is a director of Texas Bank and Trust and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | East Texas Communities Foundation; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Previously, Dr. Lunsford served as a vice |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | president of The University of Texas at Tyler, and he is a former |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | academic journal editor and visiting scholar at The University of |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Texas McCombs School of Business; early in his 35-year career in |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | higher education, he was a business professor, associate dean, |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | and director of undergraduate programs for the Collins College of |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Business at the University of Tulsa, where he earned his |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | bachelor's and master's degrees; he completed his doctoral degree |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | in business administration at Oklahoma State University; and |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | WHEREAS, Through his adept and forward-looking leadership, |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | Dale Lunsford has greatly advanced the mission of LeTourneau |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | University, and as he takes on his new responsibilities, he may |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | reflect with pride on his accomplishments to date; now, |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | therefore, be it |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | Legislature, hereby congratulate Dale Lunsford on his |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | appointment as chancellor of LeTourneau University and extend to |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | him sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further |

| 39 | 39 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be |
