| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The untimely death of Jeffrey Sean Barry of Dallas |

| 6 | 7 | | on August 5, 2021, at the age of 47, has brought an immeasurable |

| 7 | 8 | | loss to his family and friends; and |
|---|
| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Born in Dallas on February 13, 1974, Jeff Barry was |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | the son of Thomas and Kathleen Barry, and he grew up with the |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | companionship of a sister, Kelly; he attended St. Patrick Catholic |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | School, Forest Meadow Junior High School, and Lake Highlands High |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | School, where he graduated in 1992; he continued his studies at |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | Southern Methodist University, earning a bachelor's degree in |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | marketing from the Edwin L. Cox School of Business in 1996; while at |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | SMU, he pledged the Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity and enjoyed a strong |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | bond of camaraderie with his fraternity brothers; and |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Barry went on to work for IBM, Winning Habits, |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | Chesapeake Energy Corporation, Ryan LLC, and other companies, in |

| 19 | 20 | | addition to undertaking contract work; shortly before his passing, |

| 20 | 21 | | he had co-founded a licensing company of his own, BarScot; and |

| 21 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Barry was the loving father of three children, |

| 22 | 23 | | Lucas, Blake, and Ashley, and he often took them on outings to the |

| 23 | 24 | | Dallas Athletic Club, where he was a member; his hobbies included |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | playing golf with his friends; he was known as a warm and gregarious |

| 25 | 26 | | man, and he was cherished by an extended family that included his |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | niece, nephew, aunts, uncles, and cousins; and |

| 27 | 28 | | WHEREAS, Although Jeff Barry is deeply missed, he has left |

| 28 | 29 | | his family and friends with many treasured memories, and he will |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | forever hold a special place in their hearts; now, therefore, be it |

| 30 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |
