 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Family and friends will long cherish their memories
 of Carl James Cahill Jr. of Sonora, who passed away on June 4, 2021,
 at the age of 78; and
 WHEREAS, The son of Wanda and Carl Cahill, Jimmy Cahill was
 born on May 29, 1943, and grew up with the companionship of a
 sister, Diana; he graduated from Sonora High School in 1961, and he
 went on to attend Texas Tech University, where he earned a degree in
 business administration in 1966; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Cahill enjoyed a successful career working for
 Carl J. Cahill, Inc., his father's oil field construction company;
 he eventually took over the business, and under his able
 leadership, the company served countless ranchers and oilmen
 throughout Texas; and
 WHEREAS, A skilled entrepreneur, Mr. Cahill contributed
 immeasurably to the vitality and economic well-being of Sonora; he
 supported local mohair producers by founding Sonora Mohair &
 Company and Ol' Sonora Trading Company, and he created I-10
 Magazine to promote area businesses; in addition, he helped
 organize Covered Wagon Dinner Theater at the Caverns of Sonora, and
 he served on the board of the Eaton Hill Nature Center and Preserve;
 and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Cahill was married to the former Ruthie Shafer
 for 43 years until her passing in 2010; fortunate enough to find
 love again, he shared a fulfilling relationship of 11 years with his
 second wife, Linda Cahill; he was the devoted father of two
 children, Kelly and Chacho, and he took great pride in his
 grandchildren, Rebeckah, Reagan, Gage, Lane, and Carson; he also
 had the pleasure of welcoming into his family a stepdaughter, Amy
 Love Sykes, and her children; and
 WHEREAS, In his leisure time, Mr. Cahill enjoyed ranching,
 hunting, and fishing, as well as following Sonora Broncos football
 and watching horse races; he held a deep appreciation for history,
 and he gave numerous historical tours of Sonora and Sutton County;
 and
 WHEREAS, Jimmy Cahill lived a life that was rich in personal
 and professional achievements, and he will forever be a source of
 inspiration to those he leaves behind; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
 Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory
 of Carl James Cahill Jr. and extend sincere condolences to his loved
 ones; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Jimmy
 Cahill.
