5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Glenn Blodgett of Guthrie has been selected for |

6 | 7 | | induction into the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame as a member |

7 | 8 | | of the Class of 2021; and |

8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The American Quarter Horse Association strives to |
---|
9 | 10 | | support and protect the American Quarter Horse breed, and each |
---|
10 | 11 | | year, the association recognizes individuals who have contributed |
---|
11 | 12 | | to the advancement of the American Quarter Horse industry; and |
---|
12 | 13 | | WHEREAS, A graduate of Oklahoma State University, |
---|
13 | 14 | | Dr. Blodgett earned a degree in veterinary medicine from Texas A&M |
---|
14 | 15 | | University in 1974; he subsequently worked at Spur Veterinary |
---|
15 | 16 | | Hospital for two years before opening Hansford County Veterinary |
---|
16 | 17 | | Hospital in Spearman; and |
---|
17 | 18 | | WHEREAS, In 1982, Dr. Blodgett joined Burnett Ranches as |

18 | 19 | | resident veterinarian and manager of the horse division, and he has |
---|
19 | 20 | | since overseen the equine breeding and production facility at the |
---|
20 | 21 | | famed Four Sixes Ranch; under his leadership, the ranch has been |
---|
21 | 22 | | recognized for its racing and western performance American Quarter |
---|
22 | 23 | | Horses; in addition, Dr. Blodgett is an adjunct graduate faculty |
---|
23 | 24 | | member at Texas A&M, and he mentors veterinary students at Four |
---|
24 | 25 | | Sixes Ranch; and |
---|
25 | 26 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Blodgett has benefited AQHA since 1991, when he |
---|
26 | 27 | | began serving as a director; from 1995 to 2009, he was chair of the |
---|
27 | 28 | | Stud Book and Registration Committee and a member of the AQHA Hall |
---|
28 | 29 | | of Fame Selection Committee, and in 2011, he was elevated to |
---|
29 | 30 | | director-at-large; the following year, he was elected to the |
---|
30 | 31 | | executive committee, and he served as the executive president in |
---|
31 | 32 | | 2015; currently, he is a member of the AQHA Animal Welfare |
---|
32 | 33 | | Commission; and |
---|
33 | 34 | | WHEREAS, In addition to his work with AQHA, Dr. Blodgett has |
---|
34 | 35 | | been involved with the American Association of Equine Practitioners |
---|
35 | 36 | | and the Texas Racing Commission; he has earned a number of awards |
---|
36 | 37 | | along the way, including induction into the Texas Horse Racing Hall |

37 | 38 | | of Fame and the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame; and |

38 | 39 | | WHEREAS, A longtime leader in his field, Glenn Blodgett has |

39 | 40 | | distinguished himself in the Lone Star State and beyond through his |

40 | 41 | | vision, expertise, and commitment to excellence, and he is indeed |

41 | 42 | | deserving of this prestigious honor; now, therefore, be it |

42 | 43 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |

43 | 44 | | Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby congratulate Dr. Glenn |

44 | 45 | | Blodgett on his induction into the American Quarter Horse Hall of |
