 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Dr. Glenn Blodgett of Guthrie has been selected for
 induction into the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame as a member
 of the Class of 2021; and
 WHEREAS, The American Quarter Horse Association strives to
 support and protect the American Quarter Horse breed, and each
 year, the association recognizes individuals who have contributed
 to the advancement of the American Quarter Horse industry; and
 WHEREAS, A graduate of Oklahoma State University,
 Dr. Blodgett earned a degree in veterinary medicine from Texas A&M
 University in 1974; he subsequently worked at Spur Veterinary
 Hospital for two years before opening Hansford County Veterinary
 Hospital in Spearman; and
 WHEREAS, In 1982, Dr. Blodgett joined Burnett Ranches as
 resident veterinarian and manager of the horse division, and he has
 since overseen the equine breeding and production facility at the
 famed Four Sixes Ranch; under his leadership, the ranch has been
 recognized for its racing and western performance American Quarter
 Horses; in addition, Dr. Blodgett is an adjunct graduate faculty
 member at Texas A&M, and he mentors veterinary students at Four
 Sixes Ranch; and
 WHEREAS, Dr. Blodgett has benefited AQHA since 1991, when he
 began serving as a director; from 1995 to 2009, he was chair of the
 Stud Book and Registration Committee and a member of the AQHA Hall
 of Fame Selection Committee, and in 2011, he was elevated to
 director-at-large; the following year, he was elected to the
 executive committee, and he served as the executive president in
 2015; currently, he is a member of the AQHA Animal Welfare
 Commission; and
 WHEREAS, In addition to his work with AQHA, Dr. Blodgett has
 been involved with the American Association of Equine Practitioners
 and the Texas Racing Commission; he has earned a number of awards
 along the way, including induction into the Texas Horse Racing Hall
 of Fame and the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame; and
 WHEREAS, A longtime leader in his field, Glenn Blodgett has
 distinguished himself in the Lone Star State and beyond through his
 vision, expertise, and commitment to excellence, and he is indeed
 deserving of this prestigious honor; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
 Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby congratulate Dr. Glenn
 Blodgett on his induction into the American Quarter Horse Hall of
 Fame and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success;
 and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Dr. Blodgett as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives.
