| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Victor L. Manor Sr.; and |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | WHEREAS, Victor Manor was born on October 13, 1953, in |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | Austin, to the Reverend Vernon Manor and Juanita Medearis; after |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | his 1972 graduation from John H. Reagan High School, he enlisted |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | in the United States Air Force and served with distinction before |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | returning to Texas and earning a degree from Prairie View A&M |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | University; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, While working at the federal building in downtown |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Austin, he was encouraged by Congressman Jake Pickle to explore |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | employment in the federal prison system; he went on to work as a |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | corrections officer with the Federal Bureau of Prisons in |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Bastrop, Texas, and in other locations across the country, for 30 |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | years; while in Terre Haute, Indiana, he was instrumental in |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | creating a program for students in school to work one-on-one with |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | institutional staff; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, He and his beloved wife, the late Patsy Hunt |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Manor, moved back to Austin after his retirement; he has been |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | blessed with five children, and they and his eight grandchildren |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | are a source of much pride and joy for him; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Manor is an exemplary citizen who is widely |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | respected in his community, and it is truly fitting that he |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | receive special recognition; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby commend Victor L. Manor |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Sr. on his many contributions to the Federal Bureau of Prisons |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | and to our state and nation and extend to him best wishes for |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | continued success in all his endeavors; and, be it further |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
