SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 7 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Victor L. Manor Sr.; and WHEREAS, Victor Manor was born on October 13, 1953, in Austin, to the Reverend Vernon Manor and Juanita Medearis; after his 1972 graduation from John H. Reagan High School, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served with distinction before returning to Texas and earning a degree from Prairie View A&M University; and WHEREAS, While working at the federal building in downtown Austin, he was encouraged by Congressman Jake Pickle to explore employment in the federal prison system; he went on to work as a corrections officer with the Federal Bureau of Prisons in Bastrop, Texas, and in other locations across the country, for 30 years; while in Terre Haute, Indiana, he was instrumental in creating a program for students in school to work one-on-one with institutional staff; and WHEREAS, He and his beloved wife, the late Patsy Hunt Manor, moved back to Austin after his retirement; he has been blessed with five children, and they and his eight grandchildren are a source of much pride and joy for him; and WHEREAS, Mr. Manor is an exemplary citizen who is widely respected in his community, and it is truly fitting that he receive special recognition; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby commend Victor L. Manor Sr. on his many contributions to the Federal Bureau of Prisons and to our state and nation and extend to him best wishes for continued success in all his endeavors; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
