10 | 10 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
11 | 11 | SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 411, Government Code, is | |
12 | 12 | amended by adding Section 411.00951 to read as follows: | |
13 | 13 | Sec. 411.00951. REQUIREMENTS FOR BORDER SECURITY CAMERAS | |
14 | 14 | AND DATA STORAGE. In any program the department establishes to | |
15 | 15 | monitor this state's international border, the department may only: | |
16 | 16 | (1) use security cameras manufactured in the United | |
17 | 17 | States by a company whose headquarters are located in the United | |
18 | 18 | States; and | |
19 | 19 | (2) store data retrieved from the security cameras | |
20 | 20 | described by Subdivision (1) on data storage devices located in the | |
21 | 21 | United States and operated by a company whose headquarters are | |
22 | 22 | located in the United States. | |
23 | 23 | SECTION 2. Section 411.00951, Government Code, as added by | |
24 | 24 | this Act, applies only to a contract for the purchase of security | |
25 | 25 | cameras or the storage of data from security cameras entered into on | |
26 | 26 | or after the effective date of this Act. | |
27 | 27 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect February 1, 2022. |
