55 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
66 AN ACT
77 relating to requirements for the use on this state's international
88 border of security cameras and for camera data storage from those
99 cameras.
1010 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1111 SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 411, Government Code, is
1212 amended by adding Section 411.00951 to read as follows:
1313 Sec. 411.00951. REQUIREMENTS FOR BORDER SECURITY CAMERAS
1414 AND DATA STORAGE. In any program the department establishes to
1515 monitor this state's international border, the department may only:
1616 (1) use security cameras manufactured in the United
1717 States by a company whose headquarters are located in the United
1818 States; and
1919 (2) store data retrieved from the security cameras
2020 described by Subdivision (1) on data storage devices located in the
2121 United States and operated by a company whose headquarters are
2222 located in the United States.
2323 SECTION 2. Section 411.00951, Government Code, as added by
2424 this Act, applies only to a contract for the purchase of security
2525 cameras or the storage of data from security cameras entered into on
2626 or after the effective date of this Act.
2727 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect February 1, 2022.
