 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 AN ACT
 relating to requirements for the use on this state's international
 border of security cameras and for camera data storage from those
 cameras.
 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 SECTION 1.  Subchapter A, Chapter 411, Government Code, is
 amended by adding Section 411.00951 to read as follows:
 Sec. 411.00951.  REQUIREMENTS FOR BORDER SECURITY CAMERAS
 AND DATA STORAGE. In any program the department establishes to
 monitor this state's international border, the department may only:
 (1)  use security cameras manufactured in the United
 States by a company whose headquarters are located in the United
 States; and
 (2)  store data retrieved from the security cameras
 described by Subdivision (1) on data storage devices located in the
 United States and operated by a company whose headquarters are
 located in the United States.
 SECTION 2.  Section 411.00951, Government Code, as added by
 this Act, applies only to a contract for the purchase of security
 cameras or the storage of data from security cameras entered into on
 or after the effective date of this Act.
 SECTION 3.  This Act takes effect February 1, 2022.
