| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Each year, Mount Olive Baptist Church in Arlington |

| 6 | 7 | | hosts its Unity in the Community citywide worship service; and |

| 7 | 8 | | WHEREAS, First held in 2017, Unity in the Community brings |

| 8 | 9 | | together Arlington residents of all denominations and walks of life |

| 9 | 10 | | for a night of fellowship and music; proceeds from the event benefit |

| 10 | 11 | | local charitable organizations; and |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Mount Olive Baptist has served the Arlington |

| 12 | 13 | | community since 1897, when a small group of Black Tarrant County |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | residents founded the church at its original location on Indiana |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | Street; in order to meet the needs of a growing membership, the |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | congregation moved to its current house of worship on West Sanford |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | Street in 1989, and in the decades since, the church has expanded to |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | include a day care center, a Christian academy, a federal credit |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | union, and Arlington New Beginnings, a housing community for the |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | elderly; and |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | WHEREAS, The congregation's citywide worship service |

| 21 | 22 | | provides an opportunity for area Texans to join together on a |

| 22 | 23 | | special occasion of fellowship, unity, and hope for our common |

| 23 | 24 | | future, and all those who help make this worthwhile endeavor |

| 24 | 25 | | possible are indeed deserving of recognition for their dedicated |

| 25 | 26 | | efforts; now, therefore, be it |

| 26 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |

| 27 | 28 | | Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby commemorate the annual |
