| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Anna Nguyen has rendered years of exceptional |

| 7 | 8 | | WHEREAS, An avid activist for transgender rights, Anna Nguyen |

| 8 | 9 | | is president of PFLAG Austin, the local affiliate of the national |

| 9 | 10 | | PFLAG organization; established in 1994, the Austin chapter |

| 10 | 11 | | provides assistance to area LGBTQIA+ individuals and their families |

| 11 | 12 | | through support groups, advocacy, and educational initiatives; and |

| 12 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Born in London and raised in Saigon, Vietnam, |

| 13 | 14 | | Ms. Nguyen moved to Austin in 1975; when embarking on her own gender |

| 14 | 15 | | journey, she found support with PFLAG Austin, which led her to begin |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | her advocacy efforts; she has been a champion for transgender women |

| 16 | 17 | | of color, and she has fought against racism, challenges to |

| 17 | 18 | | reproductive freedom, and policies that negatively impact members |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | of LGBTQIA+ communities; she is also a software engineer, as well as |

| 19 | 20 | | a model and a fashion designer; and |

| 20 | 21 | | WHEREAS, By defending the rights of those who are oppressed |

| 21 | 22 | | and marginalized, Anna Nguyen is helping to build a more just and |

| 22 | 23 | | inclusive society for all citizens of the Lone Star State, and she |

| 23 | 24 | | may indeed take great pride in her myriad achievements; now, |
