 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Anna Nguyen has rendered years of exceptional
 service to LGBTQIA+ communities across Central Texas; and
 WHEREAS, An avid activist for transgender rights, Anna Nguyen
 is president of PFLAG Austin, the local affiliate of the national
 PFLAG organization; established in 1994, the Austin chapter
 provides assistance to area LGBTQIA+ individuals and their families
 through support groups, advocacy, and educational initiatives; and
 WHEREAS, Born in London and raised in Saigon, Vietnam,
 Ms. Nguyen moved to Austin in 1975; when embarking on her own gender
 journey, she found support with PFLAG Austin, which led her to begin
 her advocacy efforts; she has been a champion for transgender women
 of color, and she has fought against racism, challenges to
 reproductive freedom, and policies that negatively impact members
 of LGBTQIA+ communities; she is also a software engineer, as well as
 a model and a fashion designer; and
 WHEREAS, By defending the rights of those who are oppressed
 and marginalized, Anna Nguyen is helping to build a more just and
 inclusive society for all citizens of the Lone Star State, and she
 may indeed take great pride in her myriad achievements; now,
 therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
 Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby commend Anna Nguyen for her
 longtime advocacy in behalf of Central Texas LGBTQIA+ communities
 and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success with her
 important work; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Ms. Nguyen as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 House of Representatives.
