5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The untimely passing of Kori Freeman Crow of Austin |

6 | 7 | | on September 21, 2021, at the age of 43, has brought a heartbreaking |

7 | 8 | | loss to her family, friends, and colleagues; and |

8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Born on March 14, 1978, in Landstuhl, Germany, to |

9 | 10 | | Mike and Starr Freeman, the former Kori Freeman grew up with the |
---|
10 | 11 | | companionship of a sister, Lacey; during her childhood, she moved |
---|
11 | 12 | | with her family to El Paso and then to Central Texas, where she |
---|
12 | 13 | | graduated from Round Rock High School in 1996; while at Round Rock |
---|
13 | 14 | | High, she served as editor of the school newspaper and had a |
---|
14 | 15 | | memorable stint as the school's dragon mascot; she also |
---|
15 | 16 | | participated in a number of local political campaigns; and |
---|
16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, From the age of eight, when she idolized |

17 | 18 | | then-President Ronald Reagan, she had set her sights on a career in |

18 | 19 | | politics; she majored in communications at Concordia University |

19 | 20 | | Texas in Austin, and she went on to meet her future husband, Chad |

20 | 21 | | Crow, while running her first political campaign; the couple were |

21 | 22 | | married on May 26, 2002, at a ceremony in Round Rock; together with |

22 | 23 | | her husband, Ms. Crow founded a political consulting firm called KC |

23 | 24 | | Strategies that has worked on more than 300 campaigns over the |

24 | 25 | | course of two decades; in 2017, she was honored with the Texas |

25 | 26 | | Blazing Star Award from the Women's Chamber of Commerce of Texas, |

26 | 27 | | and that same year, she was recognized as one of the 40 best |

27 | 28 | | campaign professionals under age 40 by the American Association of |

29 | 30 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Crow and her husband shared a love of travel |

30 | 31 | | that led them to live in six different countries and to visit at |

31 | 32 | | least 60 others; despite the demands of her work, she was able to |

32 | 33 | | have many adventures in far-flung places, which included earning a |

33 | 34 | | culinary arts degree in Argentina, becoming a certified master |

34 | 35 | | scuba instructor in Honduras, and attending an audience in Rome |

35 | 36 | | with Pope John Paul II; in 2019, the Crows were blessed with a son, |

36 | 37 | | Francis, while they were living on Vancouver Island in Canada; and |

37 | 38 | | WHEREAS, Kori Crow lived a rich and vibrant life, and she will |

38 | 39 | | forever be remembered with deep affection by all who were fortunate |

39 | 40 | | enough to know her; now, therefore, be it |

40 | 41 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |
