5	6		WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
6	7		commemorates the life of John A. Hermann, who died July 10, 2021,
7	8		at the age of 74; and
8		-	WHEREAS, John Hermann was born in Gonzales, Texas, on
9		-	~~June~~ 18, 1947; he moved to Brenham with his family during his
10		-	~~high~~ school years, and he graduated from Brenham High School and
11		-	~~Blinn~~ College; and

12	13		WHEREAS, Mr. Hermann served with distinction in the Army
13	14		National Guard and was stationed at Fort Polk, Louisiana, before
14	15		being transferred to Fort Louis, Washington; he went on to have a
15	16		rewarding life with a strong foundation built on faith, family,
16	17		and community; and
17	18		WHEREAS, John shared 53 years of marriage with Patsy
18	19		Hermann, and they raised their daughter, Jennifer Jean Hermann,
19	20		by loving spiritual example; they found great fulfillment in
20	21		their years of service to Brenham's First Baptist Church, where
21	22		they had married in 1968, and John was honored to serve the
22	23		congregation as head of the Audio Visual Ministry and as a deacon
23	24		for many years; and
24	25		WHEREAS, This beloved Texan was admired as both a savvy
25	26		businessman and a generous community steward; on May 15, 2014,
26	27		the City of Brenham celebrated John Hermann Day to honor his 50
27	28		years of leadership at Hermann Furniture; he was a director
28	29		emeritus of the Brenham Maifest and a past president of the
29	30		Downtown Association, and he was proud to have served as a master
30	31		of the Grand Masonic Lodge; and
31	32		WHEREAS, John was an avid hunter and fisherman, a devoted
32	33		husband and father, and an esteemed leader in the Brenham
33	34		community; he was beloved by many, and he will long be remembered
34	35		with respect and admiration by all who were privileged to share
35	36		in his life; now, therefore, be it
36	37		RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th
37	38		Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby extend sincere
38	39		condolences to the bereaved family of John A. Hermann; and, be it
39	40		further
40	41		RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
41	42		his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
42		-	Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
	43	+	Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day; it do so in
43	44		memory of John Hermann.
