5+ SENATE RESOLUTION
56 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
67 commemorates the life of John A. Hermann, who died July 10, 2021,
78 at the age of 74; and
8- WHEREAS, John Hermann was born in Gonzales, Texas, on
9- June 18, 1947; he moved to Brenham with his family during his
10- high school years, and he graduated from Brenham High School and
11- Blinn College; and
9+ WHEREAS, John Hermann was born in Gonzales, Texas, on June
10+ 18, 1947; he moved to Brenham with his family during his high
11+ school years, and he graduated from Brenham High School and Blinn
12+ College; and
1213 WHEREAS, Mr. Hermann served with distinction in the Army
1314 National Guard and was stationed at Fort Polk, Louisiana, before
1415 being transferred to Fort Louis, Washington; he went on to have a
1516 rewarding life with a strong foundation built on faith, family,
1617 and community; and
1718 WHEREAS, John shared 53 years of marriage with Patsy
1819 Hermann, and they raised their daughter, Jennifer Jean Hermann,
1920 by loving spiritual example; they found great fulfillment in
2021 their years of service to Brenham's First Baptist Church, where
2122 they had married in 1968, and John was honored to serve the
2223 congregation as head of the Audio Visual Ministry and as a deacon
2324 for many years; and
2425 WHEREAS, This beloved Texan was admired as both a savvy
2526 businessman and a generous community steward; on May 15, 2014,
2627 the City of Brenham celebrated John Hermann Day to honor his 50
2728 years of leadership at Hermann Furniture; he was a director
2829 emeritus of the Brenham Maifest and a past president of the
2930 Downtown Association, and he was proud to have served as a master
3031 of the Grand Masonic Lodge; and
3132 WHEREAS, John was an avid hunter and fisherman, a devoted
3233 husband and father, and an esteemed leader in the Brenham
3334 community; he was beloved by many, and he will long be remembered
3435 with respect and admiration by all who were privileged to share
3536 in his life; now, therefore, be it
3637 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th
3738 Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby extend sincere
3839 condolences to the bereaved family of John A. Hermann; and, be it
3940 further
4041 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
4142 his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
42- Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
43+ Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day; it do so in
4344 memory of John Hermann.
