5	5	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
6	6	commemorates the life of Maria S. Ledesma, who died September 8,
7	7	2021, at the age of 94; and
8	8	WHEREAS, Maria Ledesma shaped a joyful and rewarding life
9	9	centered on her strong spiritual faith and her devotion to her
10	10	family and friends, and her enthusiasm for living each day to the
11	11	fullest set an inspiring example for others to follow; and
12	12	WHEREAS, Maria was born to Ester and Agapito Serda on
13	13	February 2, 1927; she shared many happy years of marriage with
14	14	her beloved husband, the late Nick Gandora Ledesma, and she
15	15	instilled in their five children the importance of hard work and
16	16	strong values; her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and
17	17	great-great-grandchildren were a source of immense pride for
18	18	her; and
19	19	WHEREAS, A beloved matriarch and a cherished friend to
20	20	many, Maria was a charming and gracious lady, and she was noted
21	21	for her warmth, her sense of humor, and her vivacious,
22	22	compassionate spirit; she loved dancing and singing and social
23	23	gatherings with friends and family, and she was an enthusiastic
24	24	cook, baker, shopper, and gardener; she took joy in helping
25	25	others, and she was a longtime member of the congregation of Our
26	26	Lady of Guadalupe Church; and
27	27	WHEREAS, Maria Ledesma devoted herself fully in all her
28	28	endeavors, and she treasured each special and joyful moment in
29	29	life; she was a source of inspiration and light in the lives of
30	30	others, and she will long be remembered with great affection and
31	31	admiration by all who were privileged to share in her life; now,
32	32	therefore, be it
33	33	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th
34	34	Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby extend sincere
35	35	condolences to the bereaved family of Maria S. Ledesma; and, be
36	36	it further
37	37	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
38	38	her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
39	39	Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
40	40	memory of Maria Ledesma.
