SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 55 In Memory of Maria S. Ledesma WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and commemorates the life of Maria S. Ledesma, who died September 8, 2021, at the age of 94; and WHEREAS, Maria Ledesma shaped a joyful and rewarding life centered on her strong spiritual faith and her devotion to her family and friends, and her enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest set an inspiring example for others to follow; and WHEREAS, Maria was born to Ester and Agapito Serda on February 2, 1927; she shared many happy years of marriage with her beloved husband, the late Nick Gandora Ledesma, and she instilled in their five children the importance of hard work and strong values; her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren were a source of immense pride for her; and WHEREAS, A beloved matriarch and a cherished friend to many, Maria was a charming and gracious lady, and she was noted for her warmth, her sense of humor, and her vivacious, compassionate spirit; she loved dancing and singing and social gatherings with friends and family, and she was an enthusiastic cook, baker, shopper, and gardener; she took joy in helping others, and she was a longtime member of the congregation of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church; and WHEREAS, Maria Ledesma devoted herself fully in all her endeavors, and she treasured each special and joyful moment in life; she was a source of inspiration and light in the lives of others, and she will long be remembered with great affection and admiration by all who were privileged to share in her life; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved family of Maria S. Ledesma; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Maria Ledesma.
