13 | 16 | | State Hotel in Conroe; the party faced the challenge of finding a |

14 | 17 | | painter who would create a Republican Party sign at the time, and |

15 | 18 | | the sign that was eventually painted and hung above the entrance |

16 | 19 | | remains at the current headquarters as a reminder of the |
---|
17 | 20 | | obstacles overcome by past members of the Montgomery County |

18 | 21 | | Republican Party; and |

19 | 22 | | WHEREAS, A larger facility was used for a time as the |

20 | 23 | | headquarters to accommodate the party's needs, and the party led |

21 | 24 | | multiple successful campaigns in the late 1980s and early 1990s; |

22 | 25 | | through the creation and continuing support of the party's |

23 | 26 | | Roundtable, Business Council, and Sustaining Member Program, |

24 | 27 | | funds were raised to enable the party to relocate its |

25 | 28 | | headquarters to the former lobby of the State Hotel; the historic |

26 | 29 | | building continues to host the members of the Montgomery County |

27 | 30 | | Republican Party and to serve as a much-needed headquarters; now, |

29 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th |

30 | 33 | | Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate the |

31 | 34 | | Montgomery County Republican Party on a successful reopening of |

32 | 35 | | its headquarters and commend the party's members for their |
---|
33 | 36 | | continued commitment to civic and political engagement; and, be |
