| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | commemorates the life of Jeremiah H. Wimbley Sr., who died on |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | September 13, 2021, at the age of 101; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, This treasured citizen and esteemed veteran was |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | born on March 8, 1920, in Spurger, Texas; he served with |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | distinction in the United States Army as a truck driver during |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | World War II, and his numerous military accolades included the |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Bronze Star and commendation from the French ambassador for his |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | participation in the liberation of France; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Jeremiah was the first person to take up residence |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | on his street in Beaumont, and as the neighborhood grew, he |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | became a cherished patriarch of the community; he gave generously |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | of his time and resources to ensure that vulnerable neighbors had |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | food and clothing, and many looked to him for his counsel; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Jeremiah was beloved by all the members of his |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | family, and each of them was a source of pride for him; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, A man of wisdom, kindness, and dedication to duty, |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Jeremiah Wimbley will long be remembered with respect and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | admiration by all who were privileged to share in his life; now, |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | therefore, be it |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby extend sincere |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | condolences to the bereaved family of Jeremiah H. Wimbley Sr.; |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | and, be it further |

| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |

| 30 | 30 | | his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
