SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 67 In Memory of Jeremiah H. Wimbley Sr. WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and commemorates the life of Jeremiah H. Wimbley Sr., who died on September 13, 2021, at the age of 101; and WHEREAS, This treasured citizen and esteemed veteran was born on March 8, 1920, in Spurger, Texas; he served with distinction in the United States Army as a truck driver during World War II, and his numerous military accolades included the Bronze Star and commendation from the French ambassador for his participation in the liberation of France; and WHEREAS, Jeremiah was the first person to take up residence on his street in Beaumont, and as the neighborhood grew, he became a cherished patriarch of the community; he gave generously of his time and resources to ensure that vulnerable neighbors had food and clothing, and many looked to him for his counsel; and WHEREAS, Jeremiah was beloved by all the members of his family, and each of them was a source of pride for him; and WHEREAS, A man of wisdom, kindness, and dedication to duty, Jeremiah Wimbley will long be remembered with respect and admiration by all who were privileged to share in his life; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved family of Jeremiah H. Wimbley Sr.; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Jeremiah Wimbley.
