66 AN ACT
77 relating to the procedure by which a taxing unit is required to
88 provide public notice of certain ad valorem tax-related
99 information.
1010 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1111 SECTION 1. Section 26.04, Tax Code, is amended by adding
1212 Subsection (e-6) to read as follows:
1313 (e-6) The designated officer or employee of a taxing unit
1414 required to post information on the home page of the taxing unit's
1515 Internet website under Subsection (e) shall publish a summary of
1616 that information and the uniform resource locator (URL) address of
1717 the location where that information is posted in a newspaper of
1818 general circulation in each county in which the taxing unit is
1919 located. This subsection does not apply to a taxing unit if:
2020 (1) the taxing unit is located wholly or partly in a
2121 county with a population of one million or more; or
2222 (2) no part of the taxing unit is located in a county
2323 in which a newspaper of general circulation is published.
2424 SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only
2525 to an ad valorem tax year that begins on or after the effective date
2626 of this Act.
2727 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2024.
